The 2021 edition of the ‘New Books from Poland’ campaign has just been launched. The programme is aimed at popularising new Polish literature among foreign publishers, translators, and, of course, readers. It provides publishers and translators with access to an English-language catalogue that constitutes an overview of the most interesting, and as yet untranslated, titles recently published in Poland. Likewise, readers will find some recommendations of new books that have already appeared in their languages, such as this year’s featured titles by Elżbieta Cherezińska, Jakub Małecki, Wiesław Myśliwski, and Andrzej Sapkowski — newly published in the US, Germany, France and Israel.
In Italy, a translation of Grażyna Jagielska’s Miłość z kamienia (“Love of Stone”) has been published. The publication of the book translated by Marzena Borejczuk and Marco Vanchetti was supported by the Book Institute as part of the ©POLAND Translation Programme.
A translation of Małgorzata Rejmer’s reportage Błoto słodsze niż miód. Głosy komunistycznej Albanii (“Mud Sweeter than Honey. Voices of Communist Albania”) has recently been published in the Czech Republic. The publication of the book translated by Jarmila Horáková was supported by the Book Institute as part of the ©POLAND Translation Programme.
