Last year, the Leipzig Book Fair was cancelled a few days before it was due to start. This time, the bad news comes with more notice – this year’s edition scheduled for the end of May has also been cancelled, reported the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on Friday. The decision was announced by the fair director Oliver Zille.
Published by Albin Michel Jeunesse, the book J’ai vu un magnifique oiseau (“I Saw a Beautiful Woodpecker”, published by Dwie Siostry) by Michał Skibiński with illustrations by Ala Bankroft and translated by Lydia Waleryszak has been nominated for the Prix Sorcières 2021, the most important French award for children’s book authors.
A translation of Wiesław Myśliewski’s Traktat o łuskaniu fasoli (“A Treatise on Shelling Beans”) has been recently published in Turkey. The book was translated by Neşe Taluy Yüce. The publication was supported by the Book Institute as part of the @POLAND Translation Programme.
