Małgorzata Lebda’s debut novel “Voracious” (“Łakome”) will be published in English in March. The publication of the translation by Antonia Lloyd-Jones was supported by the Book Institute as part of the ©Poland Translation Program.
Małgorzata Lebda’s novel was nominated for the Nike Award, the Conrad Award and the Angelus Central European Literary Award. The author received the Wielkopolska Readers’ Literary Award for it, and was also honored with the Empik Discovery 2023 title.
The translation into English will be published by the independent publishing house Linden Press.
The author of the translation, Antonia Lloyd-Jones, is one of the most outstanding translators from Polish into English; she has translated, among others, Jacek Dehnel, Paweł Huelle, Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz, Zygmunt Miłoszewski, Jacek Hugo-Bader, Mariusz Szczygieł, Olga Tokarczuk and Artur Domosławski. She is also one of the mentors of the younger generation of translators. For her services to Polish culture, she was awarded the Gloria Artis medal in 2019, and also – in 2018 – the Transatlantyk Award granted by the Book Institute.
Last year, Łakome was published in Spanish in Abel Murcia’s translation. Further translations of the novel are planned.
