As the Bologna International Children’s Book Fair approaches, we present the latest catalogue dedicated to children’s and young adult books awarded in 2020.
The catalogue “Polish Books for Children & Young Adults Awarded in 2020” was prepared by the Book Institute with foreign publishers in mind, whose interest in Polish literature for children and young people is growing year by year. It presents 28 titles which have been recognised in terms of their literary and illustrative qualities by juries of the most important competitions in Poland and abroad. They are arranged according to four age categories – 3, 6, 9, and 13 years old. All books included in the catalogue have been created by excellent Polish authors and illustrators.
The author of the graphic design is Anna Kaźmierak, a winner of the graphic award in the competition Book of the Year 2020 of the Polish Section of IBBY for the picture book Turonie, żandary, herody. Wiejska maskarada (“Turons, Żandars, Herods: A Folk Masquerade”).
The publication “Polish Books for Children & Young Adults Awarded in 2020” was to accompany us during the International Children’s Book Fair in Bologna. And while this won’t happen in an in-person format, we want it to continue to fulfil its function during online meetings. As part of the internet fair in Bologna, the Book Institute is preparing four interesting events to promote Polish children’s literature. These will take place from 14 to 17 June. Details will be announced soon on our website and social media.
