On Friday, May 30, the Madrid Book Fair began in Retiro Park. Poland will be represented at this year’s edition of the event by Małgorzata Rejmer under the auspices of the Book Institute and the Polish Institute in Madrid. The fair will last until June 15.
The Feria del Libro de Madrid fair is primarily aimed at readers, and not – like the LIBER fair – at industry representatives. However, it also includes meetings with writers. Every year, this event enjoys well-deserved prestige and huge popularity – in 2024, it was visited by over a million readers.
On Wednesday, June 11, Małgorzata Rejmer will take part in the debate El viaje: identidad de Europa (“The Journey – the Identity of Europe”) and will sign books at the stand of la Caja Books, her Spanish publisher.
During the previous edition, Poland was represented by the world-famous illustrator Piotr Socha, as well as the author of popular biographies translated into foreign languages, Anna Kamińska.
La Caja Books participated in last year’s seminar for Spanish-language publishers, organized by the Book Institute.
The Madrid fair is an opportunity for the Book Institute to continue its activities on Spanish-language markets and strengthen the presence of Polish literature in Spain and Spanish-speaking countries. Two years ago, Poland was the guest of honor at the LIBER Book Fair in Madrid, and three years ago the Book Institute took an active part in the fair in Barcelona.
