Leipzig Book Fair with a large Polish representation

Today begins this year’s Leipzig Book Fair – Leipziger Buchmesse – and the accompanying several-day festival Leipzig Liest. The fair will last four days – until March 30. The Polish stand is organized by the Book Institute in cooperation with the Leipzig Branch of the Polish Institute in Berlin (hall 4, E404).

This year’s event will be attended by 2,085 exhibitors from over 40 countries. The organizers expect around 280,000 visitors. In turn, the Lepizig Liest literary festival will consist of 2,800 events, which will be honored by the presence of 3,400 guests.

Poland has prepared a very rich programme this year. German readers will have the opportunity to meet, among others, Olga Tokarczuk (promotion of “Empuzjon”, Kampa Verlag, translated by Lothar Quinkenstein, Lisa Palmes), Tomasz Różycki (two of his books have recently been published in German: “Złodzieje żarówek” and “Błędna kartografia Europy”, the first was published by Arco Verlag, the second by Edition.fotoTAPETA, both translated by Bernhard Hartmann), Urszula Honek (promotion of “Białe noce”, Suhrkamp Verlag, translated by Renate Schmidgall), Mikołaj Łoziński (promotion of “Stramer”, Suhrkamp Verlag, translated by Renate Schmidgall), Magdalena Parys (promotion of the new edition of “Magik”, Polente Verlag, translated by Lothar Quinckenstein), Ewa Solarz and Robert Czajka (promotion of “Ziemian”, Gerstenberg Verlag, translated by Thomas Weiler). The authors will be accompanied by their translators. The plans also include a presentation of the magazine “Radar” and the yearbook “Jahrbuch Polen”. The meeting with Ewa Solarz and Robert Czajka is co-organized by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute as part of the foreign cultural program of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2025.
