China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair – funding for publishers or literary agencies

The Book Institute, in collaboration with the Polish Institute in Beijing, would like to enable publishers/agents to present their offerings and hold industry meetings during the China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (November 14-16, 2025). We invite publishing houses and literary agencies involved in the sale of foreign rights to children’s books to submit applications.

In consultation with the organizers, the Institute will cover the cost of airfare from your place of residence to Shanghai and up to four overnight stays there. It will also provide one entry ticket to the fair and a workspace at the Polish booth (one chair, one table, and a shelf for materials).

Transportation of books and materials, travel and health insurance, local transfers, per diems, and other costs will be the responsibility of the participants.

When selecting applications, we will consider:

Quality of the offer – the literary and artistic quality of the children’s books, their diversity, and the number of titles the publisher wishes to present are key factors.
Experience in selling rights, particularly in Asian markets – previous collaboration with Asian publishers, including information on selling children’s book rights, will be important.
A plan of action – which publishers would you like to schedule meetings with, whether you already have any contacts in the area, and which titles would you like to focus on.
