A translation of a selection of Cyprian Norwid’s dramas was published in the Netherlands and Great Britain. The translation by Charles S. Kraszewski was supported by the Book Institute as part of the ©POLAND Translation Programme.
The collection Dramatic Works has recently been released by the Dutch-British publishing house Glagoslav Publications.
The volume translated by Kraszewski includes works such as Pierścień Wielkiej Damy, czyli Ex-machina Durejko (“The Ring of a Grand Lady, or Ex-machina Durejko”), Krakus. Książę nieznany (”Krakus. Unknown Prince”), Noc tysiączna druga. Komedia (”The Thousandth and Second Night. Comedy”), Wanda, Kleopatra i Cezar (“Cleopatra and Caesar”), Zwolon, and Za kulisami (”In the Wings”).
As part of the ©POLAND Translation Programme, the Book Institute has also supported other translations of Charles S. Kraszewski: Mickiewicz’s Dziady (“Forefather’s Eve”, Glagoslav Publications, 2016; full four-part edition of the drama), a selection of plays by Juliusz Słowacki (“Four Plays”, Glagoslav Publications, 2017), Stanisław Wyspiański’s Akropolis (Glagoslav Publications, 2016), and Adam Mickiewicz’s Sonnets (Glagoslav Publications, 2018).
